Jo-Ann Adams

Ballet, Pointe

Born in Cambridge, Ontario, Ms. Adams has trained in the Royal Academy of Dance syllabus as well as the modern dance branch of the I.S.T.D. After receiving her Advanced Level examinations in both studies, she moved to Toronto and danced professionally with the Ontario School of Ballet, Company Division.

Settling down to have a family, she continued her love of dance through teaching at a local studio for several years. After attaining her RAD teaching certificate and diploma, she opened her own studio in Simcoe, Ontario.

She owned and operated Jo-Ann Adams School of Dance for 26 years. During that time Ms. Adams attended numerous workshops and courses related to all fields of dance as well as entering many students for RAD ballet examinations. Ms Adams also choreographed for the competitive dance team, and was often honoured for her exceptional ballet choreography.

From 2002-2007, Ms Adams was the director of the children’s ensemble with the Ballet Jorgen’s production of the Nutcracker.

Ms Adams has provided an exceptional dance education to hundreds of students over the past 30 years of teaching. She has been able to inspire and encourage many of her students to move on to their own careers in dance.

Ms Adams is thrilled and excited to be able to continue her love of dance and teaching with the students of Danceworx!
