I am inspired by the joy and innocence of working with children, youth, and adults in dance. I appreciate that dance offers the opportunity to benefit one’s: physical, cognitive, and emotional literacy. As well as: spatial awareness, confidence, self-esteem, mental health, and ability to problem solve with both convergent and divergent thinking methods.
A lifetime of dance training, teaching experience, education through the Royal Academy of Dance - Certificate of Ballet Teaching Studies, and continued professional development through Anne Green Gilbert of Creative Dance Centre - BrainDance, has awarded me the qualifications as a professional dance instructor and educator across the following dance styles: pre-dance, ballet, jazz, tap, hip hop, and lyrical in both recreational and competitive abilities.
Having taught children as young as 18 months old to adults 80 years young, I am comfortable with all ages in recreational or competitive abilities. Thanks to a decade and a half of teaching experience with these ages and skill sets, I understand, and am passionate about, the opportunity to develop and support a passionate, technically sound, disciplined, and artistic dancer.
With an extensive background in ballet, modern, jazz, lyrical, hip hop, pre-dance, and early physical literacy, I ensure my classes and students are developing the fundamental movement patterns of: Breath, Tactile, Core-Distal, Head-Tail, Upper-Lower, Body Side, Cross Lateral, and Vestibular to the varying degrees suitable for their age and ability. Safe and accepting classrooms, creative expression, personality, anatomically appropriate technique, and clean choreography are also areas I focus on.
